DOCUMENTARY HIGHWAY CHURCH (ELSBETH FRANJE, GOLDEN CALF 2017) SELECTED FOR GOLDEN NIGHTS ACADÉMIE DES CÉSAR

Director Elsbeth Fraanje is one of the guests for the Golden Nights, an initiative of the French Académie des César. Fraanje won a Golden Calf at the Netherlands Film Festival last year for her documentary SNELWEGKERK.

The film was shot in the 'Panorama', with which the Academie des César screens the 34 best short films worldwide. All participating films were awarded a National Film Academy Award (Oscar, Goya, BAFTA, César...). With this, the Academy wants to show 'top quality of the international cinema of short films and present promising new talent.'

All award-winning films will be screened in 16 cities around the world: Athens, Brussels, Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Lisbon, Luxembourg, Madrid, Milan, Montréal, Naples, Rome, Sankt Pölten, São Paulo, Stockholm, Vienna and Paris.

Together with 33 other directors, Fraanje travels along three European capitals during a 10-day film tour: Rome, Athens and Paris. They attend screenings of the films, meet local film professionals and become acquainted with a broad international film network. The tour ends in Paris on June 11 with the Nuits en Or Gala dinner at UNESCO in the presence of leading extras from the French film industry.
