Title: Through the shadows

Duration: 8 minutes

Logline: Eva escapes her abusive husband, but her trauma drives her into a nightmare where she can no longer distinguish her hallucinations of him from reality.

Synopsis: Eva is abused by her partner, Lukas. He has an alcohol problem, and when he drinks too much, she bears the brunt. During a heated argument, he throws all sorts of objects and calls her the ugliest names. Eva doesn't know what to do, and in self-defense, she hits him back with a beer bottle. He lies unconscious on the floor.

Eva is in complete shock from what she's just done. Wearing her apron and flip-flops, she gets into the car. She decides to go to her brother, Bart. He doesn't know Lukas hurt her, but he'll always help her.

Thousands of questions race through Eva's mind. What did she just do? Why? Didn't she love him? Is he dead? Along the way, she encounters him in all sorts of places. Walking on the sidewalk, sitting on a bench, and crossing the street at a zebra crossing. These images repeatedly briefly change to Lukas lying dead on the ground. She's so angry with Lukas that she eventually runs into him, and he runs after her. Out of fear, she hides behind the bushes.

Lukas: male (20-35) tall, intimidating, dark hair.
Bart: male (20-25) with a sweet and warm personality. Eva's brother.
