How would you feel if, during your train journey, you gradually turned into a fish?
This will happen to my main character, Nova (30), who visits her father after a long time.
My name is Noor Verbiest (24) and I am going to graduate as a director and (possibly) screenwriter for my psychological thriller VISSENTREIN (working title). I am doing this at the Utrecht School of the Arts (HKU)

Personal motivation and relevance:
As a young girl, I lived with the fear, for a long time, that my mother would put me on a cutting board and chop me up, as if I were a fish.
Although this fear only really came to light when I started studying at HKU, that unsafe feeling lingered for years.
It's not a given that every child grows up safely with their parents. A complex parent-child relationship is often depicted in film, creating empathy for both the child and the parent. With "Fishing Train," I want to show the child's perspective, primarily by portraying a child's fears through the parent's imposed expectations.
By consistently incorporating the question "You VS the Other" into the main character, Nova. This means: When do you choose to be yourself, and when are societal expectations imposed upon you?

What do we offer?
I want to produce the film through crowdfunding (Voor de Kunst). Unfortunately, the money won't be used for crew/cast members. But it will be used for a great time, healthy catering, experience, and a beautiful film for film festivals, etc. I'm also looking to reimburse travel expenses for the crew/cast.

The number of shooting days is not yet known, but I would like to plan the shooting period around March/April 2026.
The film still needs to go into full post-production. My deadline for the film is June 2026.

As you might guess, the arena (train) and the transformation from human to fish pose a challenging production management challenge. That's why I'm actively seeking a producer who can work with me to make this happen.
How this production comes about is still a mystery, but research has already begun.

-Contact person on set for crew, cast and external parties
