Call for Interviews for a Thesis (Storywriter/Screenwriter – Psychological Thriller)

For my thesis at the Dutch Filmers Academy (Film and Audiovisual Media), I am looking for a storywriter or screenwriter with experience in (or substantive knowledge of) the thriller genre, preferably psychological thrillers.

My thesis focuses on the question:

How do narratological and audiovisual choices in the opening of Run (Aneesh Chaganty, 2020) contribute to character identification?

In this research I analyze how elements such as:
• character introduction
• perspective and information dosage
• tension build-up
• editing, camera work and sound

determine in the first minutes of a film who the viewer will sympathize with, who he will trust and where the discomfort arises—a crucial mechanism within the psychological thriller.

For my research I am looking for someone who:
• has experience with storywriting or screenwriting,
• has insight into thriller or psychological suspense,
• can reflect on opening scenes, character positioning and suspense,
• is prepared to discuss this in an interview (± 45–60 minutes).

If you have experience primarily with thrillers (but not specifically psychological thrillers), you're also very welcome.
