Praise Joe (2026) is a short fiction film about Okki, a young director and film student who is confronted with the death of her lead actress during the shoot of her graduation film. She tries to come to grips with the half-finished project, while wrestling with guilt and the question of how to finish something when the person you made it for is no longer there.

I've previously written and directed several short films in Groningen, which have been screened and won several awards. The horror film "Mangat," which I directed, won the main prize for "Best Film" at the Cine Challenge in 2024.

People for the role of:
- Dorien (ca. 70): The deceased lead actress from Okki's short film.
- Teun (ca. 40): Dorien's son, who is left dejected, but nevertheless has a warm character and a very positive effect on Okki, in an important dialogue in the film.
- Pim (ca. 30): Okki's teacher, who sees her film more as a product for the viewer and therefore reacts somewhat rudely to the result that Okki shows him.
- Arjan (ca. 60): An older actor on a set where Okki is present and on whom she projects her feelings of guilt.
