Shadow is a short psychological thriller that takes the viewer into an oppressive world where reality and paranoia slowly begin to blur.

Synopsis
After a violent home invasion, writer Liv is plagued by insomnia, nightmares, and hallucinations that blur the lines between dreams and reality. What initially seems like a normal way to process her trauma turns into doubt about what is real. She no longer feels safe anywhere, not even in her own head. While her boyfriend Max lovingly supports her and gives her pills to help her sleep, Liv becomes increasingly entangled in fear and mistrust, and nothing is as it seems.
When Liv discovers that several women have been victims of similar burglaries, something catches her eye: the pills. What initially seems like a coincidence turns into a disturbing pattern. Small signals in her own environment take on new meaning, and her world slowly begins to shift. She realizes that she might be trusting the wrong person.
When Liv confronts the situation and manages to free herself, a revelation follows that puts everything in a new light. Determined to no longer be a victim, she processes her trauma through words. By telling her own story in a book, Liv regains her strength and takes back control of her own life.

About the film
With "Shadow," we aim to breathe new life into the Dutch horror and thriller genre. The film combines the strong buildup of tension and cinematographic style often found in American productions. This is combined with a Dutch setting, something rarely done in the Netherlands.

Instead of relying on cheap jump scares, we focus on psychological tension and an oppressive atmosphere that slowly gets under the viewer's skin. Through strong acting and a compelling story, we aim to create an intense viewing experience that lingers long after the film is over.

The film contains various kinds of special scenes, including exciting and mysterious moments, romantic scenes and fight scenes.

NB!!!:
- The characters Liv and Max have a number of romantic scenes in which they kiss each other.
During the (sex scene), the woman doesn't have to remove any clothes. The man simply removes his shirt. (If this isn't comfortable, we can always consider other camera angles.)
- The fight scenes are supervised and coordinated by a professional, so that everything runs safely and in a controlled manner.

What do we offer?
These are unpaid roles, as it's a student production. The available budget will be invested in the professional staging of the film, with a strong focus on production design, cinematography, props, and stunt coordination to ensure the film achieves the highest possible production quality.

Travel expenses can be reimbursed upon consultation and catering will of course be provided during the shooting days.

The film is being made as a graduation project, where we aim to create a film with the most professional look possible and strong cinematographic quality.

For actors, this project offers a great opportunity to expand their portfolio and showreel. The film features romantic scenes, tense moments, and fight scenes, allowing actors to showcase different aspects of their acting and gain valuable experience for future projects.

Description
We are looking for 4 Dutch-speaking women and 1 Dutch-speaking man for the following roles:

Liv (Playing age 26):
Liv is a wannabe writer. She's a sensitive and vulnerable young woman struggling with insomnia, hallucinations, and insecurity. She longs for love and trust, but becomes increasingly entangled in manipulation and fear. Liv loves reading and writing and dreams of becoming a writer. Her style is somewhat old-fashioned, which is reflected in both her clothing and the interior of her home.

Max (Playing age 28):
At first glance, Max comes across as charming, caring, and trustworthy. However, behind this facade lies a manipulative man who tries to gain control over his partners by slowly undermining them psychologically. He is tall, broadly built, and dresses modernly and neatly, making him appear confident and trustworthy. In reality, he uses manipulation and drugs to make his victims hallucinate and dependent on him. As soon as he sees an opportunity, he disappears from their lives again, leaving chaos in his wake. When he threatens to lose control, he can become violent.

Lara (Playing age 26):
Lara is driven by resentment from the past. As a child, she was bullied after Liv spread a rumor about her. Years later, she reconnects with Liv, ostensibly to rekindle their friendship. In reality, she and her brother Max have hatched a plan for revenge. Behind her quiet, innocent exterior lies someone who has carefully planned everything and is trying to keep the situation completely under control. Lara is calm, observant, and dresses modernly and unassumingly, making her appear trustworthy and approachable.

Ashley (Playing age 25):
Ashley has been Liv's best friend since childhood. She's a smaller character in the film, but she's always there for Liv when she needs her. Ashley is loyal, committed, and protective of her friend. Although she can sometimes be a bit loud and easily draw attention to herself, this usually happens without her realizing it. Her spontaneous and open personality makes her a valuable support system for Liv.

Sara (Playing age 24):
Sara is a quiet and friendly young woman who often stays in the background. Although she doesn't play a major role in the story, her presence proves more important than expected. Through her, Liv eventually discovers who Max and Lara really are, meaning Sara has a greater impact on the story's progression than initially appears.
