It Is What We Say It Is is a short film set around a dinner table where three people are expected, but only two are present. Through a quiet, domestic situation, the film explores how meaning is shaped through language, repetition, and everyday behavior and how disconnection can exist even in moments that appear calm and familiar. The tone is minimal and emotionally precise. The tension builds through small gestures, pauses, and what remains unspoken, inviting the audience to read between the lines.

The project is developed in close collaboration with Leonie, a moving image student at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie (Amsterdam), who is assisting across the production process.

What do we offer?
This is a student production and unfortunately unpaid. But I offer a focused and respectful working environment and a strong, character-driven script. The short film will be presented as part of a group exhibition at Loods6 (Amsterdam), opening on Wednesday afternoon, June 10, and running for one week. The work will be screened within the exhibition context.

The roles require subtle, naturalistic acting. No theatricality the film relies on small gestures, timing, and presence. Characters are white parents.
