We are looking for an executive producer for the short drama film ECHO. The film is about Elsje, a mother who suddenly learns that her fourteen-year-old son is in a coma after drug use. While she desperately clings to who he was, she is confronted with who he really is and what she may have overlooked.

ECHO is a raw, realistic film that stays close to the protagonist's inner world. Central to it is the question: “What did I overlook as a parent?” In the film, we make use of the medium Snapchat, among others, to switch between the mother's world and that of her son Julius.

We live in a time when substance use among young people is widespread: on the streets, online, and via social media. Behavior is also filmed, shared, and sometimes even encouraged, while supervision increasingly disappears. At the same time, danger lurks close at hand, yet parents seem to have less and less control over it. With this film, we therefore aim to contribute to raising awareness among parents/guardians regarding the stage of substance use that young people may already be in. Through this film, we want to encourage parents/guardians to engage in conversation with one another, to offer recognition, and to look for solutions together.

What do we offer?
You will be working closely with cinematographer Sam van Vugt and Director—that’s me: Fabrice Verhoeff—on a unique and ambitious film project. The script is finalized, the cast is largely confirmed, and the crew is also starting to take shape. A significant portion of the production work has already been set in motion, allowing you to largely take over these processes and expand upon them. Therefore, you do not have to set everything up from scratch.

Additionally, an intern is available through BLOCMAKERS in Utrecht to support you with your work. Together, we will work intensively on pre-production. Both Sam and I will remain closely involved and guide the process, so that we can work together over the next two months towards a strong and successful film production.

Timeperiod
We are currently in pre-production and financing is nearly secured. Therefore, we are looking for someone who is available immediately to support us a few days a week. The work spans the present period and will last approximately 2 months. You will focus on the production preparation and execution of the film, up to and including the shooting days.

The filming days are scheduled for:
Night of June 27 to 28 (shooting of the Snapchat footage of the boys)
July 3, 4, and 5 (shooting with the mother, the nurse, and Julius)

Job requirements / profile
Experience is not required. We are primarily looking for someone who is enthusiastic and eager to make progress so that we can continue to grow together. The most important thing is that you are eager to learn and, above all, have sufficient time available over the next two months. You will work closely with a close-knit team on a socially relevant film production.

The duties include, among other things:
- Supporting production during pre-production (planning, organization, and preparation)
- Assisting with coordination towards the filming period, including maintaining contact with the crew and scouting locations
- Preparing and maintaining shooting days, shooting schedules, and call sheets
