We are making a short fiction film as part of the Utrecht University of the Arts (HKU). It is a short tragicomic film that addresses the theme: "appearance versus inner truth". The film will be 8-12 minutes long. The film will be screened at the Louis Hartloper Complex in Utrecht.

When a lone municipal council candidate pulls out all the stops to win a seat in the final days of his campaign, it slowly becomes clear that he is not fighting for political change... but for the recognition he has never received.

Maarten (50-65) has lived alone in a small village for years. His campaign is his last chance to be seen. Behind every smile lies something else. Behind every smile, the tension grows. The longer he continues, the harder it becomes to keep up the facade.

A tragicomic film about loneliness, pretense, and the urge to be seen.
