Operation Playground – Part I is a short graduation film (±15 minutes) in the survival thriller genre with horror elements.

The film is set six months after a global outbreak of the living dead and follows Ricky van Ruijten, a twelve-year-old non-verbal boy who is left alone to care for his baby brother after the death of his mother.

The film does not focus on explicit violence or jumpscares, but on psychological tension, emotional resilience, and survival under extreme circumstances.

Within the story, the focus is strongly on physical performance, subtlety, and emotional expression without dialogue.

For this role, we are looking for a young actor who can convey a lot of emotion through:

- facial expression
- eyes
- body language
- silence and tension

Ricky is not a “tough action hero”, but a vulnerable boy who is forced to mature much too quickly.

- The role does not contain large amounts of dialogue
- Strong non-verbal expression is more important than acting out lines
- The actor must be able to carry emotional scenes
- Physical scenes such as running, panic, and survival moments occur
- Experience is welcome, but not required

IMPORTANT:
Although Operation Playground takes place within an intense survival world, the well-being and comfort of the young actor always come first.

The production is supervised with the utmost care, and scenes are performed safely, in a controlled manner, and with age in mind. Attention will always be paid to peace, guidance, and a pleasant working atmosphere on set.
